I was out there on Nov. 4 and again today (briefly) Nov 14. No luck with the Smith's Longspurs today.

On Nov. 4th I may have flushed the longspurs and I say that only because the vocalization I heard from these birds was completely new to me. The flushed birds (3 of them) flew far far away towards the south and the light was bad.
