I was camping out this weekend at Lake Mineral Wells State Park. These guys hang out at Penitentiary Hollow.

E-bird didn't list them but one of the rangers said they are residents of the park.

We have a long way to go with eBird - it has not been around long enough and people are not putting in their sightings near enough to cover what's really out there.

    Regards, Michael

eBird filters can be somewhat tricky at times, since bird ranges don't follow things like county and state lines. The issue for things like the Canyon Wrens at Lake Mineral Wells is that sometimes a bird is known from only one or two locations in a county. When that happens, the regional editors will often choose to keep the species as rare for the whole county.

FYI my wife and I got one today (9-3-2017) at Mineral Wells SP. Southeast side of the lake.
