Great Backyard Bird Count Feb. 12 - 15
Please see the post in the Special Events forum for more information about the GBBC.
A new location has been added. |
The Great Backyard Bird Count begins Friday. Please participate by counting the birds in your backyard, your neighborhood, your favorite park or join FWAS at one of the parks around Tarrant County (see Special Events Forum). Counting for as little as 15 minutes or as long as you would like on as many days during the count (2/12 - 2/15) as you would like will provide information the scientists can use to track the location of wintering birds and their numbers.
The Great Backyard Bird Count website (http://www.birdsource.org/gbbc/) is easy to navigate and submitting your checklist is quick and simple. If you don't have the time, don't have access to a computer or are hesitant to use the GBBC website to enter your data please give your completed form to any FWAS Board Member and we'll input it for you. Forms will be available at Thursday's meeting, from the GBBC website or email me and I'll send you one. All checklists must be entered by March 1st so if you have one you'd like us to input for you email me and we'll make arrangements to get your form. As people start inputting data it's fun to explore the results. You can compare what birds are being seen where all across North America, see how Texas does compared to other states, see how Tarrant County rates in the number of species and number of checklists submitted, even see results from your city ..... the possibilities are endless! Let's make Tarrant County number 1 with number of checklists submitted!! |
