Hi all,

I was able to get out on both Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon and found some nice odds and ends.
Saturday morning I started out at Western Oaks Rd. off of Silver Creek Rd. west of Lake Worth. I didn't find any Rufous-crowned Sparrows but the road is quite "sparrowy" - lots of Harris's, White-crowned, Song, White-throated, Junco, Fox, Lincoln's, Spotted Towhee and a flock of 30 Chippings.
At Wildwood Park on Lake Worth I had 5 Rusty Blackbirds, as well as numerous landbirds, including Brown Creep, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Winter Wren, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, etc. The lake itself was a wasteland except for cormorants and Forster's Terns.
At Cement Creek Lake I added 3 Blue-winged Teal, 12 Wilson's Snipe, a single Least Sandpiper, a Sora, and 7 Swamp Sparrows.

Sunday afternoon I started at Winscott Plover Rd. As usual, I missed the Prairie Falcon but did console myself 55 Brewers Blackbirds, a circling flock of 44 Sandhill Cranes (kind enough to continue into Johnson County) and, best of all, a very cooperative Crested Caracara, which posed for photos near the first house on the right.
Next I went to Aledo Road to search for Short-eared Owls. I managed four of them, the first of which I saw at about 5:20. Also nice was another, larger, flock of 240 Sandhill Cranes, which did me a favor by continuing into Parker County.

Happy New Year!
