Mississippi Kites

I found a Mississippi Kite's nest in my front yard today! I saw one of the Kites carrying over green leaf material today and was able to spot the nest. It should be interesting to watch over the next 6 weeks or so.

I've attached a Kite photo that I took from my backyard on 5/28. This Kite was eating a dragonfly.

I also found a Northern Cardinal nest on my grapevine trellis a couple of days ago. I haven't been able to check if there are eggs yet.

Great photo! I know they nest locally, but I have yet to see a nest. You are lucky!

I have a nest in an adjacent yard, but the male is always perched on a bare ash tree in my front yard where he can keep an eye on the nest as well as hunt cicadas and dragonflies.
