Hi all,
This morning I went into the drying beds. I'm not sure what the rules are concerning access while the construction is going on so I just stayed as far out of the way as possible. There is still very little shorebird habitat but I did managed to eke out a Buff-breasted Sandpiper, 2 Semipalmated Plovers, 4 Pectoral Sandpiper, 4 Wilson's Phalaropes and several snipe. I also heard a couple of Soras. Single Western and Eastern Kingbirds were also present. Oh, and a very dapper Eared Grebe was also still around.
In the "Forbidden" portion of River Legacy Park, the two Whimbrels appeared to have departed but I found my first Tarrant Hudsonian Godwits (3) to be a a nice replacement. Also out there were 3 Pectorals, a Baird's, and 2 Semipalmated Plovers. Except for 4 Swainson's Thrushes, there were very few migrants around.
