I was in Fort Worth for some family stuff on May 23-24. I did a little birding at Village Creek, the Nature Center and Winscott Plover Rd. I was a bit disappointed in the conditions at Village Creek, as I was hoping for some shorebirds. I was very pleased, though, to see so many Mississippi Kites.

Winscott Plover was fairly productive. There were several singing Grasshopper Sparrows along the fence line. Dickcissels were thick. I also had a number of Painted Buntings perched on the fence or small trees in sight. I heard singing Bobwhite, but never saw any.

The Nature Center was great! The woods look and sound wonderful. We have such bad drought conditions in San Antonio, it was great to see so much green. I heard an Eastern Woodpewee singing near the turn off to the Lotus Marsh Boardwalk. I had several singing Prothonotary Warblers near the canoe launch and heard a singing Northern Parula in the same area. I did not see or hear any Yellow-throated Warblers. Summer Tanagers and Indigo Buntings were very vocal in several different areas.
