Jim Sipiora reported a lone Hooded Merganser on Oct 5, at the beds. Did anyone see it today? I may have a small amount of time to bird this afternoon before class and while this wouldn't be a lifer, it would a be a new Tarrant county & bed bird for me. If it was seen between Oct 5 & today, can someone let me know what pond it was on?

He also spotted 2 common Yellow-throats & a meadowlark, so keep your eyes open!

If anybody locates this Hooded Merg, please catch it and keep it for safe keeping. I'll let you know which pond to put it in on Saturday evening. See you at the big sit!

The gates were locked much to my disappointment, so I walked in and walked the beds. I did find the Merganser in bed 31, but there was a loud boom that scared the Blue-wings (as if they aren't easily scared if you blink too loud!!) and the merganser flew off with them. I didn't spot it again, but I also didn't scout every bed - I walked the berm til I got to the back road and walked it. Jim spotted it on the 5th and it was still there today, so maybe it will still be there on Sunday!!! Spotted my FOS Marsh Wren as well and heard a couple more, along with a female Common Yellow-throat!

No shorebirds except 1 lone Greater Yellowlegs and a flock of about 35ish peeps that flew by, but I couldn't tell where they landed (saw them as I was heading out).
