Hi all,
Greg Cook and I birder the Crosstimbers trail at the Fort Worth Nature Center this morning in hopes of finding some of the birds previously reported by the Carvers. We struck out on the Hairy Woodpecker but had the following:
Green-tailed Towhee (3!!!) - We heard the previously reported bird early on but were unable to see it. We did the entire loop and Greg found two more at different spots on the loop, both of which were seen.
Pileated Woodpecker - a nice male flew into the trees on the east side of the levee at the start of the trail.
Among 55 species we also had typical birds such as Brown Creeper, Golden-crowned Kinglet, Winter Wren and a couple of Eastern Towhees among hordes of Spotteds.
