The leusistic Western Kingbird is back behind the McDonald's on Bryant Irving. Here is an image taken by Keith Bell. He says she also has a nest with babies in it as well near by.

This bird is either a different bird from last year, or the bird developed some color. The bird from last year had little to no black on its tail, this one has a considerable amount of black comparably. Maybe the feathers wear to black.

I would love to photograph the mom feeding the babies. Could you give me a location on the nest. Thanks

It is in the tree closest to the middle shopping cart rack on the left as
you drive down the aisle in front of the word "Food" on the Albertson's
building front.

It seems that the odds would be very high to have two different leucistic birds nest in the same area two years in a row, but by comparing photos, I do not believe this is the same bird I photographed last year. Other than the color difference, this bird has a very pronounced beak tip which last year's bird did not have. Anyone know if this little sharp curve develops with age?
Would love to find out if she had other babies from last year that developed the leucistic traits. Perhaps this would be one of last year's family. The two fledglings I observed in late June/early July last year were of normal coloration as youngsters.
Thanks for the heads up on this beautiful little lady!

The two or three babies appear to be of normal coloration and are very close to fledging. Mom is playing a teasing game with them and at least one of them is trying to lift the tree during its wing exercises. I wouldn't bet on them being on the nest much longer than a few more days. Dick Giese

Mike got some fantastic photos of the beautiful kingbird! I enjoyed meeting him very much on Sunday. On Monday there were several grackles surrounding the fledglings in their nest while the mother looked on. I hope they fledged without trouble; they were gone this morning. After watching so long, I missed seeing them fledge! If anyone should see them in the area the next few days, please post.
