2007-2008 Field Trips

FWAS Field Trips are open to all, members and nonmembers, beginners to world-class birders. We especially want to encourage and welcome new birders to join us on our local trips in the Fort Worth area. These trips are an excellent way to become familiar with the birds in our vicinity and discover the best places and seasons in which to find them. There are always people on these trips who are willing and able to answer your questions about birds. We try to help everyone see all the birds we find. We have dozens of extra binoculars for those who may need them. Contact the trip leader ahead of time to make arrangements. On the longer trips, we arrange for a local meeting place where we encourage everyone to carpool. This helps prevent vehicle overcrowding in the field, conserves gas, combines gas expenses and most importantly is a good way to get to know your fellow birders. Don’t let bad weather deter you. Often the best birding is in the worst weather. Miserable conditions certainly build camaraderie.

A Field Trip may be canceled due to severely inclement weather and the cancellation will be posted in the Field Trip section of the Forum. Please contact the Field Trip leader if you have concerns about the weather the day of the trip. Come prepared – sunscreen and insect repellant are a must. Warm weather trips may bring out mosquitoes, chiggers, etc. Also bring along food and water because lunch is always in the field. When an RSVP is requested please respond by the date listed. For additional information check out the Field Trip section of the Forum.

We would also like to encourage you to check out the Field Trips being offered by other North Texas Audubon chapters. Members of Audubon Dallas and Prairie and Timbers Audubon are always welcome to join our Field Trips and have extended that same invitation to our chapter.
